Jess Hartman, MS
Academic Director
Brief info
Jess is originally from Pennsylvania, and has lived in several other states before landing in Utah to attend graduate school at the University of Utah. She completed her Master's of Science degree in 2008, after graduating from Syracuse University with her Bachelor's degree in geology and anthropology. While completing her Master's degree, Jess discovered her love of teaching. She has over 18 years of experience as an educator, and is familiar with the public education system, charter schools, and residential treatment centers. She has served in a leadership role for 10 of those years in a residential treatment center setting.
Jess firmly believes that all students can learn! Education should be fun, engaging, and interactive, in an environment where students feel safe to challenge themselves and regain their sense of wonder and excitement for learning. She is passionate about understanding how students learn, their individual strengths and needs, and supporting them in achieving their academic goals.
Jess loves the outdoors and spends a lot of her free time climbing, hiking, and camping. She volunteers for a rescue group, fostering and finding homes for dogs in need. She also enjoys reading and relaxing at home with her partner, family, and dogs.
