English Instructor
Brief info
I’m a native of Oregon and have lived in Heber Valley now for the past 10 years. I got a dual degree in Special Education and Elementary Education from Brigham Young University. For a couple decades I worked either in public schools or privately as a homeschooling coach.
I have a love for English literature and writing. I also love foreign languages and cultures. I have studied French, Spanish, and Swedish. I hope to take the opportunity to do more foreign travel in the next few years.
For the last 14 years, I have also pursued a profession in Culinary Arts, learning on the job by catering special events and later being a Food Manager at two main facilities: first, Park City Senior Center and second at Acqua Recovery Treatment Center. I have enjoyed teaching adult clients culinary and nutrition classes.
I believe life is to be enjoyed even through our struggles and challenges. We can overcome much as we work together. I’ve been married 33 years and we have 5 wonderful children. I am nearing the empty nest stage, as I have only one child still at home. The rest are young adults or married. We have 4 beautiful, young grandchildren. My pastimes include outdoor adventuring- hiking, kayaking or hammocking (with a good book). I cherish family time when we can visit National Parks, and host Sunday dinners or game nights. I also enjoy theatre and musicals.
